Mitigation of Damages

Customer to determine what steps can be taken to mitigate the damages. Remember that reasonable additional expenses may be incurred to prevent more costly damage, but should be approved by the insurance company prior to expending such efforts, if possible. Many times, mitigation expenses (even if not approved) can then be included in the value of any covered claim. If you are unsure about the appropriate steps to take, consult with your Insurance Agent (or Air 7 Seas) prior to taking steps/action. Please also consult with your Insurance Agent (or Air 7 Seas) if you suspect proposed mitigation expenses will be a substantial dollar amount before providing authorization or taking an action.
